The Story Behind Pure Lapland
Some dreams begin with a destination. Ours began with a dog.
More than 15 years ago, Janne and Hanna Venäläinen welcomed their first Alaskan Malamute, Pyry, into their family. They had no idea that one dog would change the course of their lives. Through Pyry, they discovered the world of sled dogs, Arctic breeds and life spent outdoors. What started as curiosity soon became a lifelong passion.
Over the years, their pack grew, and so did their experience. Siberian Huskies became an important part of their everyday life, teaching them that working with dogs is built on trust, patience and mutual respect. Whether training for races, exploring snowy forests or simply spending quiet moments at the kennel, the dogs have always been at the centre of everything they do.
In 2019, the family followed another dream and moved to Rovaniemi, where the vast forests, snowy trails and peaceful wilderness of Finnish Lapland offered the perfect home for both people and dogs.
When the opportunity to continue the story of Pure Lapland came along in 2024, it felt like the natural next step.
Today, Pure Lapland is more than a safari company. It is a place where people, dogs and nature come together. Every experience is built on the belief that the best memories are created through genuine moments—listening to the silence of the forest, feeling the excitement of a husky team before a run, and sharing stories around a warm fire.
Our Siberian Huskies are not just part of the experience; they are our partners, our athletes and members of our family. Their wellbeing comes first in everything we do, because we believe happy dogs create unforgettable adventures.
