Pure Lapland is a local family business from Rovaniemi, offering travelers activities and adventures year-round. With us you get to try your skills e.g. with ice fishing, fly through the woods with real Siberian Huskies and feel the adrenaline rush with snowmobiles and ATV. You can also enjoy the amazing midnight sun and the northern lights!
The wellbeing of nature and the animals is our number one priority. By taking care of these, we are able to offer travelers authentic and ethical experiences in the Pure Lapland ambiance.
Towards every customer we commit on planting a tree to compensate the carbon footprint. We aim on becoming a company providing genuine and safe experiences, assured by our professional, skilled guides.
Our story
Meet Janne and Hanna Venäläinen, the couple behind the scenes. These outdoor lovers originating from Finnish Lakeland found a home in Lapland in 2019.
It all started 15 years ago with their first dog, Pyry the Alaskan malamute, who introduced them to the world of Arctic dog breeds and dog mushing. As a team requires more than one, the pack expanded with two more malamutes. They got enthusiastic about dog sledding and the dream of racing awakened – that’s how they found their love for Siberian huskies. By today, the couple has gained tens of years of experience with sled dogs, and Janne has entered multiple medium-distance races with the highlight being placed 3rd in world championships in Sweden in 2018.
Janne and Hanna wanted to share the thrill of dog sledding with others too. As Lapland’s snowy trails were full of opportunities, the family and their 30 dogs moved to Rovaniemi in 2019. Within years, the pack has grown to over 100 Siberian huskies. In Spring 2024, the couple was offered the opportunity to take over Pure Lapland. Saying yes to this new challenge, they are now able to show Lappish lifestyle and pure nature to guests from all around the world.
