Frequently Asked Questions
Here you can find answers to some of our most asked questions.
All of our activities start at the reception of Hotel Metsähirvas (Toukolantie 49, 97130 Rovaniemi). There is lots of free parking on site.
We offer transfer for an additional fee from 3 different locations: Husky Park, Glass Resort and Hostel Cafe Koti. The transfer can be added during the online booking process. The price is 50€ per reservation (i.e. if your group consists of 3 people, you pay 50€ in total incl. pick-up and drop-off). Transfer is included in the aurora tour by car.
Winter clothing is included in all of our tours free of charge. The only tour where winter clothing is not included is the aurora tour by car. Winter clothing includes thick overalls, winter boots, wool socks, gloves and liners, hats.
Be sure to wear enough layers under your outerwear, as temperatures here can get extremely cold. If possible, choose wool for its excellent insulation. Avoid tight clothing—layers should be loose enough to trap warm air between them for better insulation.
We specialize in small group experiences and our tours are limited to between 6 and 10 people per tour, depending on the activity type. If you are looking to book an adventure for a bigger group please contact us via email at office@purelapland.fi.
Our daytime tours last 2,5 hours (without transfer). The nighttime tours last 3-4 hours. The thrilling day combo lasts 6 hours, including lunch.
All tours include time for getting dressed, getting driving instructions, a little break etc.
Husky tour: Time spent mushing the sled is about 45 minutes, depending on the conditions. After the mushing part, there will be a kennel tour and time to meet the dogs, of course.
Snowmobile tour: Time spent driving the snowmobile is around 1,5 hours, depending on the conditions and the skill level of the whole group.
Night-time tours: The distance and duration depends on the conditions and the skill level of the group, as well as the aurora activity.
Children’s prices are for children aged 4-12. Infants aged 0-3 are free of charge.
Our experienced guides will do their best to adapt to the conditions and give you a wonderful tour – no matter what the weather looks like.
The duration, distance and driving-mode of the rides and safaris can change, due to the weather, snow situation, slipperiness of the route, how cold it is, the dogs’ energy level, time of the day etc. When colder than -30 °C, the route for the husky safari is closed.
We offer tours year-round. Our winter activities seamlessly adapt to the snow-free season and the other way round. Feel the rush as husky tours shift from sleds to wheels and snowmobiles transform into quad bikes – or the other way round 🙂
Usually we start switching from the guide-driven carts to the self-driven sleds in early December. We keep offering the sled tours until early April, but it always depends on the snowfall during winter and early in the season.
If there is enough snow to do the husky tours with a sled already in November, we will of course switch to sleds already then.
Absolutely! Siberian Huskies have an incredible passion for running, and when you visit us, you’ll hear their excited howls as they eagerly hope to be chosen for the teams. They of course have rest days and if they don’t feel like running one day, their friends will jump in and they can enjoy another day off! The well-being of our dogs is our top priority 🙂
Children are welcome on the snowmobile tours! The children’s price entitles to a seat in a sled pulled by the guide’s snowmobile. Children over 140 cm in height are allowed to sit on the snowmobile behind an adult, when paying the adult price.
Children need to be at least 130 cm in height to be able to join the ATV tours.
If you are a group of 2 or more people you can join as a passenger behind one of your friends who has a valid driver’s license.
Most of our tours are self-driven! In rare cases we could be able to offer guide-driven alternatives, but usually the customer will drive on their own on the self-driven tours.
If you are interested in a guide-driven tour we offer the Magical northern lights with Siberian huskies and the Pure amazing autumn husky safari on wheels as an option for you.
During all self-driven tours you will usually share the sled or snowmobile with another person and switch drivers during the tour. If you wish to drive your own sled or snowmobile you can write us an email and we will add the solo-driver option for you, if we have availability. This costs an additional 50€ for the snowmobile tour and 70€ for the husky tour.
Usually you will do the husky tour in teams of 2 adults – one is driving the sled while the other one can sit back and relax in the sled. Drivers are switched during the tour. If you are a family with smaller children, it is also possible for more than 2 people to share a sled!
All solo travelers are welcome to join our tours. We have a minimum participant number of 2 people per departure. If that number is reached, solo travelers are able to make a booking online for 1 person. If it is not possible to make a booking for 1 person in our online booking system this likely means, that not enough people have chosen that departure. If it fits your schedule please try booking a different departure – if not, please contact us so that we can help find a solution.
Our age limit to drive the husky sled is 18 years. In some cases younger teenagers might be allowed to mush – this is decided by the guide on-site and can not be guaranteed beforehand.
